Scarborough borough's infection rate falls as Tiers review due tomorrow

According to the latest Government figures, updated late yesterday afternoon, the borough's seven-day infection rate is down to 240.9 per 100,000.

That is a fall from 251 per 100,000 this time last week.

The national average for England currently stands at 401.9 per 100,000.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 3,772 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Scarborough borough.

The next review of the Tier system will take place tomorrow.

North Yorkshire is currently in Tier 2 but council chiefs have been warning that Scarborough's rising infection rates over previous weeks could see residents placed under Tier 3, meaning tougher restrictions including pubs and restaurants forced to shut.
