HUNDREDS of pounds has been raised for charity by Bridlington children taking part in Humberside Police's Lifestyle Project.
Two groups – the Tutti-Frutti Kids and the Cardiacers – raised nearly £500 between them in two separate projects.
The Cardiacers – Natasha Parkes, 11, Bethany Parkes, 12, and Abbie Parkes,14 – joined the fight to save Bridlington Hospital and raised £278.58 for the campaign.
The girls completed a 15-mile sponsored walk, held a table top sale and tombola and litter-picked the beach.
The Save Bridlington Hospital Campaign Action Group was delighted to receive the money.
Speaking on behalf of the group, campaigner Mick Pilling said: "These children are an inspiration and we thank them sincerely for their hard work and dedication.
"This is the second year they have raised money for the campaign. Three cheers for the Cardiacers!"
The Tutti-Frutti Kids – Eleanor Goodband, 11, Louise Dunn, 12, and 10-year-old Laura Dunn – raised £209 for St Catherine's Hospice and the Hospice Bereavement Support Service by holding car boot sales and table top sales at Thornwick Holiday Camp, in Flamborough. The money will be put towards funding memory boxes which are used by the bereaved to save mementos of their loved ones.
Manager of the hospice shop, and the girls' adult supervisor, Sharon Machin, said she was incredibly proud of what the group had achieved and thanked everyone who helped and contributed to the project.
The Lifestyle Project is run by the police to encourage children to take pride in and contribute to their community.
