Egton Bridge Gooseberry Show, near Whitby, IS going ahead this summer
and live on Freeview channel 276
Having been forced to cancel the 2020 event, the 2021 Egton Bridge Gooseberry Show is all set to go ahead on Tuesday August 3 at St Hedda’s School, unless government regulations change.
The oldest gooseberry show in the world has been welcoming growers since at least 1800 and 2019 saw a new world record berry take top honours.

Hide AdGrown by ten-time champion Graeme Watson, the monster gooseberry weighed in at nearly 65 grams (or 2.27 oz) - and he referred to his achievement as the "Holy Grail" of gooseberry growing.
Many members claimed their 2020 berries would have been world beaters if only the show had taken place but this year there will no long tales of “what if” as the scales do not lie.
New members are always welcome and can be helped to get going with suitable bushes and advice.
