Phillips ready to guide City’s young stoppers
Phillips, who has run goalkeeping coaching schools and sessions in Scarborough for the past few years, started his new role last week and is currently assessing the ability of all the club’s young hopefuls alongside former Sunderland keeper Michael Ingham.
He said: “It was an opportunity that was too good to turn down.

“They asked me to come in last season but I couldn’t commit to it at the time, but now is the right time to give it a go.”
Phillips will unfortunately have to call a halt to the weekly sessions he was running in Scarborough, but he is aiming to be back in town soon.
Phillips, who was also on the books at Cambridge United as a youngster, added: “I’ll be coaching the York keepers on Wednesday and Friday evenings, so I’ll have to cancel the sessions I was doing in Scarborough, but I will be looking to start those up again in the near future.”
