Kirkbymoorside’s World Trials Championship contender, Jack Peace took a leaf out of the Scrooge handbook at Scarborough DMC’s Yuletide trial at Harwood Dale, taking his second win over the festive season, winning on a loss of one miserly mark.

This was on the relatively easy second section where runner-up, Leavening’s Adam Milner, cleaned, but five marks lost on the rocks of the fifth, observed by Mick Tanton, ended the rally man’s challenge, writes John Watson.

A good battle developed between two up-and-coming riders for the Intermediate award, York’s Alick Sharp holding on to win by three marks from Richmond’s Richard Pulman.

The ride of the day had to be from Philip Baxter aboard the SWM 280. Superb bike but many years behind on modern technology. It made no difference to the Castleside rider, holding off Scarborough’s Kristian Wilkinson by two marks with Lance Harland from Sleights in third.

The Harland family had a good day though, as Rowan won Youth C class and brother Vaughn finished second in D class having to contend with the very talented Joshua Tate, now riding the MBR Beta.

With almost a hundred riders entered, Scarborough DMC would like to wish all helpers, supporters and competitors a happy and successful 2023.
